WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 I think this is a Mac OS X issue when coping the file... I've noticed this with other software from time to time... if I remove the icon-less app and and drag the app over again from a disc image dock and or finder icon returns to normal. You might want to give that a try and report back.
I have also observed this problem, and have seen it mentioned in a few online reviews of Firefox 0.9 This problem started when I updated to FireFox 0.9 from 0.8 The 07 -> 0.8 upgrade did not cause the problem. Things I tried to resolve the issue (all unsuccessful) 1. Exit app, remove icon from dock, drag app again 2. Delete app from applications folder, do clean install, drag to dock 3. Remove icon from the dock and start app by double-clicking file
After I rebooted to finish the installation of a OS X software update, the Firefox icon displayed correctly, and ever since. I have no idea why though. I didn't try rebooting, maybe that's a general cure for this problem? Anyways, I've never experienced such behavior (generic application icon) for any other os x app that I've installed (been using OS X for half a year now). Maybe the team should look into the exact os x application 'conformance' specs provided by Apple. If this built conforms to all specifications, I think the firefox team should report this behavior as a OS X bug to Apple.
I think this bug should be maked WFM since this really is a hit or miss issue... and seems to be an OS issue (in my experience). I've seen this with: Fire Adium SubEthaEdit VLC Real If you disagree reopen.
