Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608

Dragging and dropping a bookmark entry within the autoscroll area at the top and
bootom of the manager causes uncontrollable scrolling.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the bookmark manager with a long list of bookmarks that causes the
scrollbar to show up.
2. Drag a bookmark from the middle of the list to the top or bottom autoscroll
area so that scrolling starts.
3. Drop the bookmark while autoscrolling is occuring.

Actual Results:
Autoscrolling did not stop. Attempting to scroll back with the mouse
scrollwheel works but the autoscroll scrolls it back to the end of the list
again. A crash did not occur.

Expected Results:
Stopped scrolling when the bookmark was dropped.

May be related to bug 207343

Workaround:
Close the bookmark manager and open it again to regain control.
Product: Browser → Seamonkey
An alternate workaround is to attempt to drag another bookmark, by clicking on a
link, and immediatly moving the mouse while holding the button down. The
scrolling will stop immediatly after the dragging starts.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Still occurs with:

Firefox/1.0.7

Does not occur with:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.6
(Mandriva 10.2)
Is this also an issue with the upcoming Mozilla1.5RC1?

MozillaAS v1.7.x is not supported anymore.
Firefox v1.0.x is not supported anymore.

Can you reproduce with SeaMonkey v1.1.9 ?
(or Firefox v2.0.0.14 ?)
I can't reproduce it with 2.0.0.14 on Ubuntu Gutsy or Windows XP or 3.0b5 on Ubuntu Hardy. I'm not sure if the root cause has been resolved because autoscrolling is no longer triggered when dragging a bookmark so I can't recreate the pre-conditional situation to test it.
