Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 I was installing a variety of extensions for the newly released FF 0.9 (from the official site, under the verified 0.9 section, to ensure that incompatible extensions would not cause any problems) and found that once I had installed around 20 or 21 extensions, the browser would display a "Finalising Extension Install, this may take a minute.." window, and sit there indefinately. I left my computer for over an hour to run some errands, and it was still sitting like that when I got back. At first I thought that it was because I had tried to install all of the extensions at once, but when I clean-installed and did them all individually, it still locked up when I hit a certain one. Thinking that I had located a conflicting/buggy extension, I clean installed again, and skipped it, but around the same number of extensions later, the browser locked up again. When I absent-mindedly opened another browser window while the message was up, it opened fine, and when I looked at the extensions manager, it had loaded some, but not all of the extensions. I closed both and repeated this process, and a few more had loaded. I repeated this a couple more times, and all but one extension had loaded. Eventually I uninstalled the extension because it would not change status ("This extension will be installed the next time you restart FireFox"), and FF appeared to open fine. However, when I went to install the extension again, it still sat on that message, meaning that I cannot bypass that limit. Even worse, when I removed a couple of extensions to "make room" for it, it then went back to the "Finalising Extension Install" lockup, and I had to open another browser window and uninstall it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to the official extensions site listed in the release notes 2. Install about 21 or so extensions from the list 3. Restart browser Actual Results: "Finalising Extension Install" lock up, no further action, even after long period of time. Expected Results: Finished installation and opened browser. Was using the default theme, and standard Windows XP configuration.
identical to bug 245610 which I had filed some days ago. Then it was easy to lock up with two specific extensions only.
