User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608 Firefox/0.8.0+
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608 Firefox/0.8.0+
When I receive an email with a URL in it, thunderbird underlines that URL.
Clicking on the underlined URL fails to launch firefox.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send yourself an email with, say, "http://www.google.com/" in the message text.
2. run thurderbird and read that message
3. click on the google link in the message
Actual Results:
nothing happens at all
Expected Results:
firefox should launch and display the google page
in thunderbird, I have tried tools:options:attachments:File Types:HTML:Change
Action... set to "Open them in the Default Application: /usr/bin/htmlview"
and "Open them using this application /path-to-firefox/firefox" and "Open them
using this application /usr/X11R6/bin/xmessage" (just to see if anything happens
at all; xmessage runs fine by hand, so I figured xmessage would display the URL
when run from thunderbird).
In all cases, clicking the link in the email resulted in nothing happening at
all. I have also tried quitting and re-running thunderbird after each change,
but that didn't accomplish anything either.

I am experiencing a similar problem on Windows. Links in all other apps I have
tried (Trillian, OO, even tried OE) work fine. But when I click a link in
Thunderbird, Firefox does not open. However, if I thn click the FF icon, the
page appears to have loaded, the UI just did not load. Still, somethings are
not right. All my extensions do not load in this case. I have to close FF,
reopen it and then click the link in TB.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
