Details
I downloaded and installed Firefox 0.9 a couple days ago. Since then I've
installed both 0.9.64a and 0.9.64b of Chatzilla from hacksrus.com, and the
extension manager shows them. But, there is no "IRC Chat" button listed in the
toolbar config (as indicated by the FAQ at hacksrus.com), and entry/use of any
irc: URI simply results in a "irc is not a registered protocol" Alert dialog.
Am I doing something wrong? Would appriciate any help. Need to get this
working ASAP.

Well, firstly this doesn't affact everyone (I know of many people who've had it
running fine on FF 0.9) so I can't see it's either a critical or ChatZilla bug,
but we can still try to work out what's wrong...
Could you try and provide the following information:
- Any mention of "{59c81df5-4b7a-477b-912d-4e0fdf64e5f2}" or "chatzilla" in
extensions\Extensions.rdf in your Firefox profile?
- Contents of the directory extensions\{59c81df5-4b7a-477b-912d-4e0fdf64e5f2}
from within your Firefox profile.
- Is there a ChatZilla entry on the Tools menu?
- Does opening the config options from the Extension Manager work?
- Is there any mention of the word "chatzilla" in the file
chrome\overlayinfo\browser\content\overlays.rdf in your Firefox profile?
That should get us started.

Okay:
- Many references to chatzilla, since it's installed and recognized in the
Extensions manager. Sorry if I didn't mention that. There are also RDF's in
there regarding 59c81df5[...]. 2 or three of them.
- chrome, components, and uninstall directories, and two files. install.js, and
install.rdf
- No
- Yes
- Yes, in an RDF:li
thanks.

Ug, this is going to be hard. It sounds like it's installed properly
(everything's in the right place, etc.)... it's even got the overlay (which is
what adds the menu item and toolbar button).
Assuming that it's not disabled in the Extension Manager, you could try
disabling it, restarting FF, enabling it, restarting again.
After that, check chrome\chrome.rdf in your profile for references to
"chatzilla" too.

Okay. That fixed it. I lowered this bug to major, because since it's bit at
least two people, I'm assuming it's a chatzilla bug.
I installed like 3 or 4 extensions at the same time, then rebooted for all of
them to come active. Any way that could've caused the problem?
But, disabling - exiting - enabling - exiting fixed it. The next time it came
up the Tools menu item is there, and the ChatZilla button is available. Seems
to work about as expected, too. So, that's good. :-)
Thanks!

Wow, that was just a random guess at what to try. :)
The fact that fixed it implies to me it's actually a Firefox Extension Manager
bug, and installing more than one extension at a time may well be related. I'm
not sure I want to move components yet, but I do think we need some people who
know the EM well.
Ben, I'm CCing you since the EM is essentially yours - any help would be
appreciated.

- Does opening the config options from the Extension Manager work?
Tools-Extensions opens a dialogue, but there dont appear to be config options
nb http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/showlist.php?category=Chat states there
are no chat extensions for firefox

jwq #mozillazine is reported by 3rd party to have chatzilla-firefox working on os X

Yes, you have a different issue (you can't install it, which is not ChatZilla's
problem).
Marking this bug as INVALID because as far as I can tell is actually a
bug/design flaw in the Firefox Extension Manager and not ChatZilla.
