I liked the old default theme better, but its not there in the list of themes to choose. Can you please put it back for 1.0 as a bundled alternate theme? Can you also put a few additional themes in there, too? What themes are will be more obvious to people if you at least offer a few bundled choices. Regular users won't see "Get More Themes".
Probably should have been filed under Firefox

We probably want: Firefox Default (the new default theme) FirefoxModern 0.7.1 (for people moving from Mozilla -> Firefox) Firefox Classic (the theme that was replaced by the new default theme)
The Firefox Classic theme is Arvid Axelsson's Qute (currently Qute 2.1.1). If we can get Arvid to change his license, we coud return that one to the default and then just choose 1 or 2 more small properly-licensed themes so that new users get an idea of what themes do.
Otherwise, we need at least one more theme included so that users can get an idea. Themes add to binary size, so FirefoxModern isn't that bad because its only 549KB. It will also create consistancy for people moving from Mozilla standard. I don't know what the license is on FirefoxModern, though. The other option, as I said before, was that if Arvid will change his license, we can make that one the default once again, and make the current one the 2nd. Arvid's is much nicer, if we ignore the licensing issues.
Flags: blocking1.0?
From the beginning of the project it has been continuously reaffirmed that we're only going to ship one theme with Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox. Qute will not be restored as the default theme, the reasons have been made clear, and the decision is final.

There is theme that are like the one used in previous version but they are not quite the same and they are hard to find. In comment #3 of bug 443442 Kai Liu that the bundling old theme would increase installer size and is right. What I suggest, is building official legacy theme easily downloadable and filled in a specific category "Mozilla Project Official Legacy Theme" on the add-on page.
Sorry there is a few typo. in comment #7 It's should have been: In comment #3 of bug 443442 Kai Liu said that the bundling old an theme would increase installer size and he is right.
(In reply to comment #7) > "Mozilla Project Official Legacy Theme" on the add-on page. > But who will make it? The biggest issue, by far, is the effort needed to maintain it and to update it for each new version.
(In reply to comment #9) > But who will make it? The biggest issue, by far, is the effort needed to > maintain it and to update it for each new version. > Why not an approval system? The theme could be community maintained but with Firefox core developper approval. And for each new major version of Firefox in Beta stage, a request should be made to the community for a new legacy theme. This way there would be official theme available for the release canditate. > But who will make it? I volunteer! I'm not a good very designer but I'm a good programmer. I could manage to make some theme with the help of a designer.
