sometimes I get 0 byte files when trying to download a file (gif, for example)
that is attached to an email sitting in my IMAP server's INBOX.

do you have your inbox configured for offline use in Mozilla? Does this happen
when you save a single attachment?

I tried to get an IMAP og file, but it is empty!

does not tell me how to set NSPR_LOG_MODULES when I want to get IMAP logs, it
only tells about POP3, SMTP etc.
I tried set NSPR_LOG_MODULES=IMAP4:5 but it did not work also.

ok, now I managed it to get a proper log file. But of course downloading of the
attachments now worked. Does this log file help then?

a log file of a case where the problem happens would be more useful, yes.

Help! I have a log file with that download error, but imap.zip is ~5,5 MB, so I
cannot upload it! What's next?

has anyone tried a recent trunk or aviary branch build? I suspect this is fixed
by the fix for bug 249195
