User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 I have my navigation buttons moved up beside my menues (File, Edit,...) and my addressbar moved up nextto these to save space. And there for I have removed the navigation toolbar. This also gives an advantage in fullscreen where the screen i fact becomes fullscreen with no buttons at all. Pressing F6 (to get to the addressbar) in fullscreen where the addressbar is not vissable and you star typing an URL, Firefox will try to show you a dropdownbox with suggestions that is about 100px wide, making no more room for the "http://" part of the sugested URLs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 0. Start your browser on a blank page. 1. Customize your toolbars to have the addressbar show on the same toolbar as your menus. 2. Remove the navigation toolbar (right click remove tick in "Navigation toolbar"). 3. Switch to fullscreen (F11). 4. Press F6. 5. Type an URL of a previous visited address. Actual Results: A too small autocomplete sugestion box shows. Expected Results: Not sure. Maybe the addressbar should become visable and the suggestionbox should show under it (like in vindowed mode). Maybe only the suggestionbox should show, but in full witdh. Maybe no suggestionbox should show at all. Not sure how it should be presented.
This is how Firefoxs UI is setup on my Windows XP.
Summary: URL-autocomplete dropdown box breaks in fullscreen → URL-autocomplete dropdown box too narrow in fullscreen
I can confirm that this has been happening since 0.7 and still happens now with 0.9.2. The expected behavior isn't really clear because the location bar cannot be found when going full screen while it was located on the menu bar. You can type in the location and still go to sites correctly if you type it in. Or what I've been doing is using the smart autocomplete and typing just a few letters and selecting the first entry knowing it's the right site. Should the user be able to even put focus on the location bar if it is not shown in full screen mode? It would make sense if it worked this way, but I personally would prefer it to remain as it is right now allowing the user type in a url and select from the list. So if it is to remain, should a location bar appear when it is focused or leave it hidden. And when you start typing, how wide should the drop down autocomplete menu be? The original width in windows mode or as wide as the screen? Component toolbar? location bar/autocomplete? accessibility?
This bug 248130 and bug 242401 could maybe be wrapped into bug 171350 which talks about cutomizing separate views for full screen and normal mode? But I suppose there is still the issue of someone not having the location bar in the full screen mode..
This bug was last touched before 1.0.4. Is it still reproducable? Try the latest branch build (1.0.5): http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ Try the latest nightly trunk build (v1.0+): http://www.mozilla.org/developer (Reviving old UNCONFs)

You can no longer access the url bar via f6 or crtl + L in fullscreen mode with your setup Firefox 2 or Trunk. Marking invaild. Currently nothing happens when you press ctrl + L or F6 with your setup. You can follow Bug 171350 for better support non-standard url field locations.
