Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set the Home page to about:blank in Tools | Options | General. 2. Uncheck the "Hide the tab bar when only one website is open" in Tools | Options | Advanced | Browsing. 3. Close Firefox. 4. Start Firefox. 5. Click the tab bar close icon (little orange x). 6. Close Firefox. 7. Restart Firefox and notice the tab bar is gone. An additional quirk is if you select File | New Tab you will get two tab pages. Actual Results: The browser started without a visible tab bar. Expected Results: The browser should have started with a visible tab bar.

There is no such file (user.js) on my system. I searched for every case combination I could think of. What directory is the "profile dir" you speak of?

This is broken UI that we should fix, if just by removing the advanced pref.
