User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608

I recently upgraded to OS/X 10.3.4 Panther. After installation Mozilla, which
ran fine on 10.2 would initiate a system hang (to the extent that the pointer
became unresponsive and the clock stops ticking) as a page opened. The only
recourse was the Mac equivalent of the "three-fingered salute". A fresh install
of 10.3 on a different system generates no similar error. No application besides
Moz crashes this system.

It would appear this is related to a problem with the sequence of patches to
Carbon and/or Java released by Apple as described on their message boards. The
system in question had the issue with Java update error as described on their
message board and corrected using the described workaround.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a new page
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Eventually, the entire system hangs, requiring a hard reset f the system.

Expected Results:
Normal operation as in 10.2

I submit this bug as *informational*, as I suspect it is really a problem
peculiar to the upgrade path 10.2-10.3 of MacOS experienced by a small number of
systems.
