FF 0.9.1. I have set Mozilla Mail 1.7 as my default mail application on Windows XP. I can right click a file in Windows Explorer and choose to mail it, and it will launch Mozilla Mail to do that. When I have FF running and select File > Send Page... (or whatever the exact wording was), it launches Outlook Express. Obviously I would have expected it to launch Mozilla Mail.

This bug has been discussed many times before in many other bugs, I'd suggest the Search feature of bugzilla.

Well, I did search before filing, and I did not see anything that would match. Since you obviously know what you are talking about, why not provide some actual links?

(In reply to comment #3) > Some possible duplicates can/could/might include: > bug 152526 Menu->Send link does not open external mail app (should use mailto:) No, besides, Firefox does launch an external mail application. > bug 130253 Default install hijacks Internet Explorer Send Link by E-Mail function No, besides, Firefox does not hijack Internet Explorer's Send Link by E-Mail > bug 246595 File -> Send Link does not send link No, besides, this works > bug 144484 "Send Page ..." menu option does not integrate with external mail clients (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) No, that bug is about using Mozilla Mail when the default is something else This bug does not seem to be a duplicate of any of the bugs you mentioned, or any other bug that I was able to find. I also was not able to see anyone describing exactly this situation I am experiencing, but maybe I did not read carefully enough. However, I did notice from http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152526#c18 that in Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs Tab > E-Mail Drop-down box Mozilla Mail was NOT selected, even though Mozilla's preferences show that Mozilla Mail is the default, and right clicking in Windows Explorer will use Mozilla Mail. Once I manually set Mozilla Mail also in Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs Tab > E-Mail Drop-down box, Firefox launches Mozilla Mail for File > Send Page... I'll mark this bug invalid, and file a new one on Mozilla Mail to correctly set set default mail application.
