User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-AT; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040114 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-AT; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040114 I have this problem since I updated from Mozilla 1.4 to 1.6 on SuSE Linux 9.0. Whenever I want to reply to an eMail or click on a mailto-link on a website, the message cannot be sent because the password for the smtp-server seems to be wrong, when I type it in the dialog box. In this case, Mozilla seems to have forgotten the password although I have saved it with the password manager. A workaround to this problem: Compose a new eMail (Ctrl+M) and then copy and paste the addressee, subject and content of the mails. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open an eMail and then hit the "Reply"-button OR type into the address-bar of the browser "mailto:any@mail.net" 2. Type in any text you wish and hit "Send" Actual Results: Mail Server Password Required Enter your password for (username) on (smtp-server): After typing in the correct passwort, the same alert appears and so on. Expected Results: I should send the eMail without asking for the passwort because I have saved it.
Sorry, when I type in the password and the hit OK, I get the following message: Send Message Error Sending of message failed The message could not be sent because connecting to the SMTP server (server name) failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try again, or else contact your network administrator.
You only have one mail account or multiple accounts?
I have three accounts.
Maybe when you click a mailto: Link it picks the wrong account. But that wouldn't explain the error when replying to a mail. Maybe you want to make a smtp log to see which account it uses for sending http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#smtp and attach the log here.
> Sorry, when I type in the password and the hit OK, I get the following message: You have to type it in - if it's saved that's wrong anyway. But Frank is right, though I've no suspicion, a log would be nice.
