I have realplayer 5.0 installed on my 4.x communicator. Tried this with build (2000012108M13). Please note that I tried removing the existing plugins folder under the mozilla installation as well as placing the .so files in the 4.x plugins directory. To recreate the problem, please do the following steps: 1.Install and launch the browser 2.Go to the url mentioned above. 3. Observe that a grey area opens up at the top with "embed" written. 4. The audio file does not play.

Invalid. Existing Linux plug-in binaries won't work on Moz/Nav5 Linux. Linux plug-ins must be upgraded to use GTK instead of Motif. See http://www.mozilla.org/docs/plugin.html#linux. When RealNetworks releases an upgraded RealPlayer plug-in for Mozilla, we should test that and open any bugs we find. P.S. When filing plug-in bugs, please be sure to include the plug-in version number. Thanks!

Should I be reopening this ? But this was marked invalid. I have tried realplayer 7.0 with today's build, but it does not work as mentioned here originally( now no grey area appears, the page is blank). (2000090808m18)

1) How are you supposed to install Real Player plugin in Mozilla under Linux? I tried installing the RPM and then copying the raclass.zip and rpnp.so files from /usr/lib/netscape/plugins to Mozilla's plug-in directory - no luck. 2) According to http://www.mozilla.org/docs/plugin.html#linux Nav 4.x plugin binaries won't work in Mozilla. Why does Flash Player 4 actually work in both?

1 Antti, I did exactly what you have tried. Realplayer, by default gets installed under 4.x plugins directory. I too manually copied the rpnp.so file to mozilla plugins folder. 2 I too have the same question as you do, why does shockwave work and others do not work(acrobat, realplayer). As per the document you have pointed to, unless plugin vendors release mozilla compatible plugins, we should not expect plugins to work on linux. And I suppose this was the reason that this bug was marked INVALID.
