Prehistory:
I want to migrate from POP3 with local laying mail to an IMAP server. I searched
the Internet but the only way to do this with Mozilla is to drag all Mails
manually to the IMAP server account within Mozilla MailNews. No Problem with
this so far.

Problem:
I'm subscribed to some mailing lists so I use the treaded view within Mozilla.
With mails received via POP3 and moved to a local folder this is no problem and
it works like a charm. Now I let Mozilla move around 5000 mails to a
testing-only IMAP server and threading doesn't work as expected. This means:
Messages, that should be within the thread are displayed outside the thread.
I've tried this with dovecot and cyrus-imapd -> same problem.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move a thread from a mailing list to a IMAP account (maybe this is not
necessary, but currently I don't have any other environment to test)
2. View the thread on the IMAP account.
Actual Results:
Messages where outside the thread.

Expected Results:
Messages should be inside the thread (as they where originally).

I made some screenshots where you once see the original test-thread on my
production machine (isolated in a separate subfolder of the local folders) and
the view on my testing machine (within VMware with clean WinXP and Mozilla 1.7
without any changes) once on dovecot and once on cyrus-imapd (you may see the
different server names in the window title).

Well, now I know that my problem exists since about 2 years (but I'm still not
completely sure, that my problem is really the same as described in the other
two bugs).
Maybe I didn't understand the other two bugs correctly, but does this problem
only arise when moving mails to an IMAP account and should not happen in regular
useage (mails are delivred directly to the IMAP server)?
