RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 256949

People

(Reporter: earthworm, Assigned: bugzilla)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1

Firefox won't remember my Proxy user name or password, entering them every time
i launch Firefox is a pain. I searched bugzilla, and people were complaining
that they couldn't change the user/pass settings under 0.8.x, it appears 0.9.x
doesn't have this option at all.

So really, we need a way to set this information in a nice GUI and have it save,
but easily modifiable. I would imagine lots of office workers would move
straight back to IE after a few days of entering their user/pass details just to
visit a www page, so this ought to be high priority perhaps?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch firefox, enter proxy settings to visit google ...
2. close firefox
3. launch firefox, enter proxy settings to visit google ...
4. close firefox

Actual Results:
firefox keeps forgetting the proxy details ...

Expected Results:
this is tied into the windows login, couldn't the info be read from there? a
proxy druid/wizard might be nice ... "would you like to use your windows
credentials in conjunction with the proxy, or manually set this information" ...
something along those lines has to be the answer, if IE can do it, i'm sure the
Mozilla team can ;)
please download and test Firefox 1.0rc1:
