User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040711 Firefox/0.9.0+

I've been using the show Failed URL for so long that I'd neglected to file this
bug until now.

The problem: if you mistype a URL and you get an error page, you do not have a
chance to correct your typo--you must retype the whole thing.

The example I've provided is simple, and you can recover what was typed. Before
I found the SFURL extension, I had plenty of mistakes where I could not as a
practical matter recover what I typed.

Show Failed URL has worked for a long time. It really ought to be part of the
browser.

Can you imagine an IE user making a mistake and getting gibberish? She'd be
highly annoyed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. write www..com in URL bar
2. press <Enter>

Actual Results:
chrome://global/content/netError.xhtml?e=dnsNotFound&u=http%3A//www..com/%3Blkfkj.com/&d=www..com%20could%20not%20be%20found.%20Please%20check%20the%20name%20and%20try%20again.

Expected Results:
http://www..com/
That may or may not be the best solution according to bug 157004 comment 39.

This bug is I think in essence a dup of bug 157004 (since this bug basically is
a re-request to fix 157004).
Thank you for bringing bug #157004 to my attention. I couldn't find it when I
searched.

So, this is a re-request, so mark it a dup. The fact remains, though, that it
needs fixing.
