Last week I upgrtaded to release 1.7.  Later when I went to search messages
there were no data entry blocks.  I then upgraded to 1.7.1 with the same
results.  To reslove the issue, I copied all the mail over to a totally new
account.  Search messages worked for a couple of days then failed as before. 
Upgrading to 1.8 did not fix the problem.  I'll try reinstalling 1.6 to see if
the problem goes away.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. No idea how the problem starts
2. Create a new account and copy all mail over to it.  Search messages worked
for a few days.
3. Dropping back to 1.6 to see if that fixes the problem.

Expected Results:  
Search messages should work.  

I hadn't thought about the themes.  When I updated to 107 I adopted the Modern
theme.  I'll drob back to Classic to see if that has any effect.

I also had this issue, persisting through several upgrades.  Issue was that the
search text entry boxes are completely missing when "search messages" is
selected from a mail folder.  When I went to search bugs for dupes of this, I
also went back to reproduce the problem in my Mozilla suite (Mozilla/5.0
(Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050319 ).  Despite having
tried several times before to "expand" or "drag" the search panel around
(thinking that perhaps I had hidden the text entry boxes somehow), I could never
make them reappear.  Today, the search boxes *did* reappear when I performed
what I thought was the same action: clicking on the separator bar "handle".  For
me, no bug was found in 1.7.6 (although I don't remember ever minimizing the
criteria subwindow).  Suggest to original reporter to attempt a search and both
click *and* drag on the separator bar in the search window.  For some reason it
seemed awkward to me to get both the search criteria and results back on the
screen until I'd done it once or twice.
