In M13 tarball, there is no Readme. It would be cool to add one : )

Punting from "Architecture" product back to "Browser".
Component: All → Browser-General
Product: Architecture → Browser
Version: 5.0 → other
Leaf, can you do this or find someone (pgunn?) to do it while I'm on sabbatical?
Thanks,

The online release notes seem to be working well... for those that are able to
startup the builds. I'm going to work on auto-generating a README in the
dist/bin directory as part of each optimized build, marking the date, cvs tag
and configure line (where applicable).

In the linux binary tarball from 2000-11-11-06 (mtrunk), there is no README.
Reopening. Alex, which tarballs were you talking about?

Note: From the summary and the initial description it is not clear if this bug
is talking about the source tarball or the binary tarball. I take Leaf's comment
about dist/bin that he is talking about the binaries. Fixing summary. I'm going
to file a new enhancement request about better READMEs etc. in the source.

Bug 31968 "Need README file in distribution packages" is talking about mainly
the same issue.

I was looking at MTrunk for 11/11 Linux Installer

Comment 8

After looking at the three types of linux mozilla build's i found there are
readmes in -gnu-installer and -gnu-sea (The two instaler builds) but not in -gnu
(regular tarball)

Comment 9

it would be relatively simple to add a line to the xpinstall/packager Makefile
to copy the README file from wherever deliver.pl gets it for the installer
builds into dist/bin. adding configure options and CVS module info would be
slightly more complicated, but doable.

Bugs targeted at mozilla1.0 without the mozilla1.0 keyword moved to mozilla1.0.1
(you can query for this string to delete spam or retrieve the list of bugs I've
moved)
Target Milestone: mozilla1.0 → mozilla1.0.1

reassign to ycalonje

Status: ASSIGNED → NEW
Target Milestone: mozilla1.0.1 → mozilla1.6beta
*I have just checked the mozilla 1.4 linux tarballs, and they contain readme files.

I suggest marking this as fixed.
