Using the decompression programs Winzip and Winrar for installing the german
version Mozilla 1.7 I receive in both cases the following message during the
process of decompression:
1. translated from German: defected CRC5105be59 (should be  216Üa023)
2. in Germann: fehlerhafter CRC5105be59 (sollte sein 216Üa023)
It was not possible to start Mozilla 1.7.
I had loaded down the version 1.7 from the German site of Mozilla.

From which URL did you download it?

My local file (which I uploaded to all sites) shows it's OK:
