Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2

When importing settings and passwords on the first run of a freshly installed
copy of Firefox from Mozilla (1.5), as well as importing passwords for web
sites, passwords for several IMAP accounts that I had were also imported.
Firefox isn't an email client so I believe this is incorrect behaviour.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install a copy of Mozilla Browser Suite 1.x
2. In Mozilla Mail, add one or more email accounts and save the passwords for them
3. Install a copy of Firefox
4. When Firefox is first run, choose to import passwords from Mozilla 1.x
5. Open Tools>Options>Privacy>Passwords>View Saved Passwords
Actual Results:
Mail passwords have also been imported.

Expected Results:
Only passwords for web sites should have been imported.

This was with a new installation of Firefox with a fresh profile. And I
apologise if this seems like a pedantic bug.
Also tried Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7)
Gecko/20040727 Firefox/0.9.1+ . Importing passwords from Mozilla 1.x did not
import the mail passwords but the View Saved Passwords list view was blank until
a restart of Firefox.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Confirming bug as report is well done, according to Bugzilla guidelines. I will
attempt to reproduce this bug sometime this week.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
You should confirm though when you can reproduce the issue
Managed to reproduce this on:

Firefox:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050719 Red
Hat/1.0.6-1.4.1 Firefox/1.0.6

Mozilla Suite:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050719 Red
Hat/1.7.10-1.4.1

Therefore changing OS to 'All' as it is not a platform-specific bug. Will test
on Mac OS X and on Gecko 1.8 builds when I get the chance.
OS: Windows XP → All
Assignee: bugs → nobody
Closing this bug since this migration code was removed in bug 679016.

Thanks for the report.
