User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040729 Firefox/0.9.1+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040729 Firefox/0.9.1+ Checking for updates to a single extension in the extension manager takes far too much time - in recent Firefox branch builds. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open extension manager 2. Click on any extension, such as "DOM Inspector 1.0" 3. Click "Update" Actual Results: Displays a dialog "Firefox is now checking for compatibility updates to your Extensions and Themes", which takes 42 seconds (fast ADSL connection). Expected Results: Dialog should say "Firefox is now checking for compatibility updates to the extension 'Dom Inspector 1.0'" and it should take less than 5 seconds on a fast connection. The dialog doesn't make it clear whether it's checking for updates for all extensions or themes or just the selected extension. It should be just the selected extension. Note that the Firefox 0.9.2 (stable) build did not have this problem. Checking for updates to a single extension took under 5 seconds.
The update service did not work properly in the build you were using. The central update server was performing badly as the implementation of the webservice needed improvement. This has been fixed in 1.0PR. If you can still reproduce this reopen the bug. Thanks.
