User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1 With multiple tabs open, manually entering a URL in the address bar seems to open a new window. The old browser window is visible behind the "new" window but can't be made active by clicking on it. Clicking on the close button on the new window closes both the active window and the original tabbed session. Has happened a few times and I cannot replicate the problem. My memory serves that it almost always happened while manually entering cnn.com, but I cannot be certain that it only happens for that website. It seems to only have happened after running a browser session for a long time (a day or more). Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: n/a Expected Results: n/a

I have now narrowed it to pop up related. Not sure exactly what happens, but some pop ups manage to make it seem a new window has opened but closing that "new window" closes the whole tabbed session. Cnn.com opens pop ups sometimes so that is why I have seen it there.

Note that I dragged the new "window" and it caused strange redraw issues. Refreshing Slashdot caused it to go away. Interestingly, at the top of the refreshed screen was the same ad but not a new window.

Here you can clearly see how visiting cnn.com opened a new window. The taskbar at the bottom shows the "untitled window" clearly that represents the new window. Closing the untitle window closes the whole tabbed session. Hitting the "back" button causes the new window to disappear.

I have a problem like this that happens a few times a week. I'll be browing some site in a tabbed browser, and suddenly some part of the page jumps out into an "Untitled window" by itself. If I close (via window manager) that new window, firefox crashes. If I hit Alt-Left in the original window, the new window disappears, but usually comes back soon after. By "some part", I had originally thought it was an HTML frame that was jumping out, but I've also seen advertising banner-sized "Untitled window"s pop out. This happens a lot when browsing eBay, but also with random other sites - notably a forum site that uses "vBulletin Version 3.0.6".

Not going to block without a testcase that can be used to reproduce the issue described.

Please reopen if you can reproduce with a recent Bon Echo (Firefox 2) build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/
