found using 2004081003-0.8 tbird bits on Mac OS X 10.3.5. looks like migration
doesn't work for Eudora.

setup
-----
a. to start fresh, I removed my ~/Library/Thunderbird folder.

b. in order to have the migration dialog appear on first launch of tbird, I
needed to have a ~/Library/Mozilla/Application Registry file --otherwise,
there's no migration dialog and instead I get the new account dialog. Asa
mentioned that there's a bug on this, but I haven't found it yet.

c. I installed Eudora 6.1.1 (free download), setup a pop account, added a few
entries (individuals and a list) into the AB (address book), and sent/received
mail (saved locally).

recipe
------
1. quit out of Eudora (also make sure no other mail apps are running).

2. start tbird, get the migration dialog.

3. select the Eudora radiobutton in the migration dialog, then click Next.

observed: migration then claims the process is complete (account settings, mail
folders and address book) with a Finish button. however, I never have a chance
to click the Finish button as the migration window goes away and the tbird 3pane
window appears.

4. check settings in tbird.

observed:

* none of my inbox messages are imported (nor any from the sent folder).
* the AB is empty.
* when I check the Account Settings, I don't see my POP settings from Eudora. in
fact, when I try to compose a message, I get the new account dialog!

another observation: Eudora settings seem to be a non-standard location,
~/Documents/Eudora Folder --is tbird somehow not finding that folder?

bug 255060 covers the issue mentioned in (b) in comment 0.
I think this is the problem where the OS X nightly build machine has a bogus
compreg.dat file in the Thunderbird.app directory. If that's blown away it works.

I thought we fixed that nightly build machine bug. Will ping leaf again.

hmm, I threw out Thunderbird.app/MacOS/components/compreg.dat, and still get the
new acct wizard instead of the migration wizard. are there other files I could
check? (also threw out the ~/Library/Thunderbird to start afresh and made sure
~/Library/Mozilla/Application Registry existed before retrying.)
Turns out I haven't implemented migration from Eudora on the Mac yet. Mostly
because the profiles aren't in a default location.

It was another bug that was allowing Eudora to show up in the migration wizard
on OS X (Bug #255809)

I'll leave this open as a potential 0.9 bug for now but may punt for 1.0.

we aren't going to implement this feature for 1.0.

The menu items for choosing this operation are still present in Thunderbird 1.5 Mac, and it still doesn't work. If it's never been implemented (as this bug seems to imply) then why is Eudora still a choice on the import menu?

OK, looks like bug 255809 has regressed then.
I saw this in testing the Tbird 1.5.0.2 candidate today. The migration wizard does show Eudora as a selection.

comment 4 makes this related to bug 274021.
bug 255809 puts it in the menu (it didn't regress).
The useless-ui showing is bug 375863, so this can be just actually doing the migration (well, and then reverting bug 375863, when it becomes un-useless).
