On Windows systems most users don't have a middle mouse button.
It would be nice if a double right click, or both left and right buttons at the
same time loaded a link into a new browser window.

IE does this with shift. Since I open-in-new-window much more often than I
save, I'd like to have an option in mozilla to reassign shift-clicking a link
to any option on the context menu.
reassign it to german for an investation. cc bdonohoe

Does this depend on bug 27364?
QA Assigning non-confidential New/Assigned User Interface: Design Feedback bugs
to Matthew Thomas (mpt@mailandnews.com).

Matthew Thomas is now the QA owner for the User Interface: Design Feedback
component. (Bugs that involve UI issues in the Netscape-branded Mozilla browser
should continue be QA assigned to elig@netscape.com.)

looks like this will not be in for this version of main feature. Set to FUTURE
so we won't forget.

This should be re-evaluated when bug 12056 is fixed, as 12056 (combined with
`Open in New Window' in the context menu) may make this unnecessary.

Also, beginning users often transfer their knowledge about opening icons and
mistakenly double-click on links to open them; opening multitudes of new windows
if they make this mistake is probably not a good idea.
Depends on: 12056
Let me know if you want me to look into this, if we decide it should be fixed
(I'm guessing nothing will happen to this bug otherwise, for obvious reasons)

fwiw, I don't think we need to fix this. Double right clicking, while it's a
little faster and easier, still requires as many clicks as choosing the item
from the context menu. And double right click is a very awkward action...
Double right-click sounds awkward to me, too - and besides, existing Windows
browsers (such as Opera and IE) are using Shift-click for opening new windows.

IMHO this should be resolved as INVALID or WONTFIX.
I agree with Eli's, Balke's and Antti's assesments. Marking [wontfix]
