User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 I have both firefox version 0.9.3 and thunderbird 0.7.3 installed on my system. I used the web page at "get more extensions" from the Thunderbird extensions dialog, chose the "calendar" extension, clicked to install. When calendar installed, it was installed for firefox, not for thunderbird. I verified several times that I was attempting to install from the thunderbird extensions web page, not from the firefox extensions web page. The only way I was able to install calendar for thunderbird was to "save to disk" the XPI for calendar, open the thunderbird extensions dialog, click "install", then choose the file I saved to my system. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I tried installing by left-clicking on the web link several times after calendar had already installed for firefox. Actual Results: It appeared to overwrite the calendar installed for firefox, and never installed calendar for thunderbird.

Invalid... If an extension which works both for TB and for FF is browsed to in FF, and you try to "Open" in firefox, it will assume you are trying to install to FF... It is a UMO/User bug, not a calendar one... The solution, drag the link to TB's Extension Manager, or save to disk...Our FAQ details how to install into TB.

I feel that this is very much a valid bug. I heard about calendar, and attempted to install calendar for TB through TB's standard "extensions" UI. I never saw the web page with your extended installation instructions, and the standard UI did not work as designed or documented. Documentation in a separate location that the UI will not work the same for installing this as it does for every other extension does not truly constitute a resolution to the bug. If you close this bug again, I won't argue further, but please reconsider it in this light.

Have you installed other extensions in thunderbird?
Yep, I had installed other TB extensions, but it appears that there's new text on the installation web page for all TB extensions- this appeared since the last time I attempted to install them. It significantly alleviates this issue. No more arguments from me.
With no more arguments I'll re-resolve/Invalid... Though I will CC Wolf (the lead on UMO) to be sure he has a peek at the issue you presented, though I'm not sure if there is really anything more he can do. (The text is pretty self-explainatory now)

Unfortunately at the current time there's not much I can do to force Tbird to get the install trigger, or to prevent firefox from trying. I agree that it's a problem, but one with no known solutions at this time. Sorry.
