I don't understand why Java enters into this, it seems a simple page. 
I don't have a talkback Id, this is on Gentoo.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Loading the above page

Actual Results:  
Almost instant death


Expected Results:  
Render the page without crashing

It's Gentoo's net-www/mozilla-1.7.2-r1

Compiled with unexciting flags (but I think they get overridden anyway)
CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe"

The validator (validator.w3.org) says it has no DOCTYPE (and defaults to 4.01)
then complains about a lot of the frameset attributes. 

FWIW the latest Opera (7.54) also crashes on this page, but Konqueror (KDE
3.2.3) doesn't.

seems the applet is corrupt or missing.
I first viewed the page using Mozilla 1.4.2, clicking on the broken Applet was
telling me something about Java 1.4.1_02, iirc.

Yes, quite possibly. The fact that Opera has the same problem (and Konqueror
doesn't, but doesn't have Java turned on) supports that idea.
