User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/125.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/125.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird version 0.7+ (20040822) It would be nice to have search for recipient in the quick search bar. I see a couple of use models where this would be useful: 1. With the global Inbox, you can quickly search for messages delivered to a given account. 2. For accounts that are a "default" account for a domain. For instance, my ISP delivers all mail not to a known mailbox into a default account. Being able to quickly search it for recipient patterns is very useful. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

Comment on attachment 156752 [details] [diff] [review] Patch that implements recipient search in the quick search bar. Normally, Mark, you should set the review request for your own patch -- but I really want to see this feature, so I'm making the request for you. :)

is this a dup of bug 259914?
Bug 259914 started out as a different issue by stating there may be confusion when search by Sender in the Sent folder would search by Recipient. That bug has now morphed into somewhat of a dup of this bug. As I commented in this bug, there are use cases where search by Recipient is useful outside of the Sent folder. That is what my patch adds. The comments in bug 259914 are about a variety of other searches which need more thought to the use models for those searches. For instance, I'm not sure that a search for "Subject, Sender, or Recipient" would be of much use if I'm searching for a Sender named "Mark" and I then get all of my inbound mail because "Mark" is the Recipient.

It might also be more intuitive if the syntax in the quick search read "To or CC" (rather than "recipients" as it does when creating filters. Another case where this would be useful would be for searching through email from a great many mailing lists that send to a specific recipient address for distribution.

I checked this in using "To or Cc" as the text. Thanks for the patch.

I can verify this is fixed for TB. It looks like the patch is to Core (but I'm not sure about that); I can't test the suite until bug 297725 is fixed. Thanks, Mark and Scott.

(In reply to comment #11) > It looks like the patch is to Core (but I'm > not sure about that); I can't test the suite until bug 297725 is fixed. Me so dumb. The suite doesn't have the field-selecter.
