Details

Currently the searchplugins directory is not in profile and therefore lost if
people update there browserversion.

exp:
move the directory to profile so updating the browserversion will leave the
searchtoolbar (and its modifications) intact.

this is a dupe of bug 232638 , or 232638 is a dupe of this one , make your pick
With the policy to patch securitybugs as quickly as possible , sometimes
requiring a new install, I think this should be fixed before 1.0.
(dataloss is not a good thing)

duping it. I concur that this bug sucks, especially on linux (bug 248719)
