This is probably a bit of a weird request, but could you add an option _not_ to
save favicons with bookmarks? I know about the browser.chrome.favicons option,
but that is a bit OTT as it kills favicons full stop.

I find favicons useful when they sit on top of tabs, but when they are in the
bookmarks (especially the personal toolbar folder) they add unnecessary clutter
to the interface.

Confirming as RFE for discussion. Could probably be done with a pref, but I
personally don't think there is any chance of UI for this.

No need for UI, a pref would be more than sufficient.

I'd like to be able to remove favicons too.


I like them; they help to differentiate between bookmarks when I'm being too
lazy to read them ;-) and they're far more useful now that cache-clearing
doesn't delete them.


However, I suspect they may be involved in some way with a troublesome bug
no-one but me seems to experience.

So, to test this latest theory, I need to remove all favicons from
bookmarks.html. Setting browser.chrome.favicons to false does NOT do this, it
just stops them being displayed (and presumably stops new ones being downloaded
and added). Those already in the file are still there, and I need them removed.

i'm pretty sure this can be fixed with userchrome.css, i'm not sure how many users would like to be able to hide favicons in toolbar. Instead many users would probably like the opposite, to hide the label.

i think this is wontfix since has a good workaround through css.

while adding this pref.. make it so that you can use it to display favicons only (in the bookmarks toolbar)

since this case is covered by userchrome, and there are good add-ons doing the same, I don't think we should support this as a core option.
