Details

We received this from our online web form and confirmed that Firefox on OSX
fails to load Shockwave content after installation. We also tested other
browsers.

Shockwave does _not_ load:
Firefox 0.9.3
Opera v7.50 build 1786

Shockwave does load:
Camino 0.8.1
Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (5815.1)
Safari 1.2.3 v125.9

---
I'm developing some interactive children's programs for our museum web
site (see, for example, www.nga.gov/kids/zone/zone.htm)
and we have been unable to get shockwave plugin installer to work w/
respect to Firefox . SInce that browser may become our defacto standard Mac
OS X browser, I'm anxious to assure shockwave compatibility). I was
wondering if it's due to an installer issue, or if perhaps there's a way to
code around the "browser recognition" -- I understand the plug in works w/
Windows versions of firefox, but not (or not always) w/ OS X. I am able
to see content on www.shockwave.com, but when I go the the macromedia
site, I still get the broken plug-in when testing browser compatibility. I'm
not sure if this means your testing page needs updating, or what? I've
de-installed and reinstalled the updated plug in, but so far, nothing is
working. Other Mozilla-flavor browsers (including Netscape, Camino,
etc.) all seem to be working fine - but Firefox is not recognizing .dcr
plug in. It would be a huge help to find a workaround, as (after a lot of
lobbying for "permission" to use .dcr files on our site) Macromedia
Shockwave has become the mainstay of our children's interactives. Any advice
you can offer would be appreciated! Thanks
