User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; it-IT; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040906
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; it-IT; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040906

I have 6 POP accounts, and when MailNews starts up, it usually asks if I want to
compact folders. Doing so will show the problem addressed in another bug (some
account can't download new messages because the folder is being processed)
and/or the mail in the Junk folder (I have only one for all the accounts) will
lose its junk status. No single identity, no frills account, all have the same
preferences set: remove mail after download, compact to save space over 100Kb,
move spam to default account Spam folder, check every 5 mins.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
I have same problem to lose junk status with Thunderbird 0.8 Installer version
on Win98.

I often see the status bar message "Building Summary File for Junk" when select
the Junk folder after starting up, and junk mails lose those status.

Same problem here on Win2K SP4 with TB 0.8. This happens on manual compacting too
Same problem here on Windows XP with TB 0.8. The training.dat file doesn't seem
to change though.
It seems to be fixed by Bug 260981 fix.

I'm using Thunderbird 20040926 AVIARY branch nightly build (
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/2004-09-26-04-0.8/ )
on Windows 98 for about a week. This bug is not reproduced.
Giacoma Magnini, Heiko Adams -- can you confirm that recent builds do not
exhibit this problem?
Will get a Mozilla Suite nightly and report back ASAP: was the mentioned fix tb
only?
ok, marking as a dup. Please re-open if it still exists. The fix was not
tbird-specific - it applied to seamonkey as well.

Using Seamonkey 2004101005, I can't reproduce the bug anymore. Thanks David!

This bug was reported for Windows, but I'm still seeing it on Linux on "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2pre) Gecko/20070129 Thunderbird/2.0pre" (Build ID: 2007012904) which is yesterday's "latest-Mozilla1.8" nightly. I notice it has been duped to a "Linux" bug which is "fixed" (presumably on trunk). I hope the fix will be propagated to the branch.
P.S. I suddenly notice I'm one and a half years later. Maybe this should be reopened with the "regression" keyword?
POP or IMAP? I'm not seeing this problem for a POP account with 2b2-0125.
Rather than reopen this bug, you should open a new bug.

POP with Global Inbox (i.e., Local Folders). Which platform are you on? I saw it yesterday (on yesterday's branch nightly), and again a few minutes ago on "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2pre) Gecko/20070130 Thunderbird/2.0pre" - Build ID: 2007013003. Also, I see it on auto-compact (even with confirm dialog) but not on manual compact.

OK, so I'll open a new bug. After I do, I'll post its number here as a comment for crossref purposes.
Done: Reopened as bug 368768
