User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040413 Debian/1.6-5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040413 Debian/1.6-5 Suggestion from partners@mozilla.org by "Cory McKinstry" "I come baring the suggestion of adding a feature to Firefox that would automatically adjust my visited page history address list by frequency of use. Personally I like to have the links remembered for quite some time. If I get bored, I scroll down and find one I haven't been to in a while. I believe this would be a welcome feature of Mozilla's products as IE does not do it either and numerous people I have talked with state it would make for a good addition." Someone has already thought of this feature but never implemented it: Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: If you open the History window > View > Sorted by Visit Count. That menu item is unselectable.
The initial comment refers to Firefox, but reporter appears to be describing Mozilla. (Firefox and Mozilla have different code for history, so the distinction is important.) With a recent Firefox build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 this certainly works fine. Do: 1. View->Sidebar->History 2. In the sidebar, press View button, select "By Most Visited" from the dropdown. With a recent Mozilla build, this works. The reporter didn't realize (and neither did I) that you must have the field showing in the History table before it is selectable from the View menu: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040803 1. Go->History 2. Click on "add field" icon in leftmost column heading, next to "Last Visited" 3. Choose "Visit Count" from dropdown. You will see the "Visit Count" column added. 4. View->Sorted by Visit Count (which is now black) Alternatively: 4. Click on "Visit Count" column header. resolving WFM, as both Moz and FF will sort history by frequency of use.

I agree it is stupid that Moz's View menu shows the option for sorting by Visit Count but doesn't make it clear how to make it work. I suspect this grayed-out status is because the table widget won't sort on attributes that are not displayed. If someone cares (I do not,) a separate low-pri bug could be opened. My suggested fix is to eliminate all options from the View menu except for the Group By feature; the table widget makes them redundant. Also, there are no mnemonics; see bug 68961.
