If you use the search toolbar without entering a query, it will take you to
google.com as expected but it will also create a blank search history item.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the toolbar search but don't enter a query.
2. Press enter.
3. It will take you to google as expected

Actual Results:  
It will also create a blank search history item.

Expected Results:  
There should be no empty blank search history item.
