Actual Results: as explained Expected Results: this is an unbelievable waste of mem usage for an email client. this is a marketing/programming failure across mozilla ff/tb nobody is willing to put up with a ff/tb env that takes 60 to >100 MB of ram and 70 to >100 MB disk to just do minimal service. morover, ff/tb frequently suffer mem leaks that do not crash but slowly deteriorate the env causing scn r/w problems, uri load errors, crashing of other pgms, et cetera. restoring the sys viability requires a warm boot to completely solve the problems.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. The latest beta releases can be obtained from: Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/ Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5beta1.html Seamonkey: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/
any windows user that knows how to check mem usage will attest to the fact that this problem has not gone away. anyone using linux will note that the ff/tb mem usage is even more extravagant. however, using fc4 x86_64 i have not noted env corruption using recent releases. since i ceased using ff/tb in windows earlier this year, i cannot comment on what is happening with the latest releases. i do know the problems persisted through the first release after 1.0 tb and i gave up. this bug's title probably drew "so what's new" reactions and people just skipped on to juicier esoterica, but the problems are real and rife through the release noted, supra.
see bug 266679 - a major cause of bloat has been fixed on the trunk and in 1.5beta builds.
fixed per comment 3. Please reopen if you see otherwise using a current version of Thunderbird.
