User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10 The "Location" column in Bookmarks Manager, in case of a Livemark does not show the Feed Location. After changing a Livemak's properties to another name and to another feed, the entry in "Location" column remains unchanged and becomes junk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Subscribe to an RSS Feed 2. Open Bookmark Manager and right-klick the new Livemark 3. From the context menu, select "Properties" 4. Change "Name" and overwrite "Feed Location" with "http://www.theregister.co.uk/headlines.rss" 5. Confirm pressing "OK" 6. Open "Properties" againg and compare "Location" column with "Feed Location" Actual Results: "Location" column of Bookmaks Manager still showing old url of previous feed. Expected Results: "Location" column should list the new "Feed Location".
It seems that the location column contains the URL where the feed was found, not the URL of the feed itself.

(In reply to comment #2) > It seems that the location column contains the URL where the feed was found, not > the URL of the feed itself. I doubt that. Check my attachment and compare the folder's "Location".
(In reply to comment #3) > I doubt that. Check my attachment and compare the folder's "Location". When I added Slashdot.org to my RSS list, it shows <http://slashdot.org/> in the column, but loads the feed from <http://slashdot.org/index.rss>. I can edit the feed location, but it doesn't show in the column.

I'm seeing the same behavior as described in original post (all steps) here both on linux (rh9) and win2k. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10.1 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Example page-to-subscribe-to exhibiting problem is at http://curtis.med.yale.edu/casldap/?o=20&w=10 (not stable, email if you can't see it.) That contorted url shows up in the bookmark manager under "Location", rather than the subscribed rss url (which does seem to function properly and show up under "Feed Location" in the right-click "Properties" dialog). I agree with the initial poster that the "Location" column under the bookmark manager should list the "Feed Location", i.e. the exact rss url as subscribed.

(In reply to comment #6) > I agree with the initial poster that the "Location" column under the bookmark > manager should list the "Feed Location", i.e. the exact rss url as subscribed. Just to clarify: a live bookmark's URL can be changed in the properties dialog, but that has no real effect. The location in the bookmark manager shows the actual location that is still used. So this bug should be renamed to reflect that it is the bookmark's URL property that is inconsistent, and not the location column in the bookmark manager. Either the URL field in the properties dialog should not be editable, or it should actually update the field.

I've just checked the "Steps to Reproduce" from my original posting and found that nothing has changed since. > So this bug should be renamed > to reflect that it is the bookmark's URL property that is inconsistent, and > not the location column in the bookmark manager. Well, after changing "Feed Location" displaying of the old location is the main topic of this bug. P.S.: Using https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=117&application=firefox you can see how it *should* work correctly.

I agree that it isn't true. In fact, I see no way to edit the URL displayed in the Bookmarks Manager at all. What you can change is the actual feed location, which is, after all, the important thing. So this is something that's confusing but fortunately still functional.
sorry for bugspam, long-overdue mass reassign of ancient QA contact bugs, filter on "beltznerLovesGoats" to get rid of this mass change

This bug is no longer valid for Firefox 3, which uses the new Places bookmark system. The location field for livemarks in the Places library is actually now blank, so it doesn't display the wrong URL or any URL for that matter. But I'm a little confused by this bug; the title indicates that the URL is not shown, but the rest of the comments (comment 0 and comment 1 from the original poster especially) say that the *wrong* URL is shown. Assuming the latter problem is really what this bug is about, I'm marking it invalid. Incidentally in Firefox 3's properties dialog and bookmark manager, there are two separate fields, one for site location and one for feed location.
