When sending a message from a secondary identity on an IMAP account, Thunderbird will try to copy the message to the sent folder even if 'copy to sent folder' is turned off.

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10
Build Identifier: version 0.8 (20040913)

See summary. Effectively, when sending from a secondary identity on an IMAP
account, Thunderbird disregards the 'copy to sent folder' option. In addition,
if there is no sent folder on the IMAP server, the send progress bar will stall
on the 'copying to sent folder'. The user can cancel out and choose to not save
the message on closing the message composition window. Note that the message
does actually get sent. Also note that when using the primary identity, there
is no problem.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup an IMAP account with a secondary identity.
2. Turn off 'copy to sent folder'.
3. Send email from the secondary identity.

Actual Results:
The sending message progress bar stalls on the 'copying message to sent folder'
message.

Expected Results:
It should not have tried to save a copy as I have that option turned off.
I have run into this problem as well. I have BCC setup. Basically it is
supposed to send the email to a specific account via BCC. My server then stores
the email along any replies I get.

As soon as I switch Identities, I am seeing that the BCC that was there is removed.

------
* To see the issue, go under Account Settings->{Account}->Copies & Folders.
* Remove Check in Place a Copy in:
*  Add Check to BCC these email Addresses:  {Enter a default address}
*  Create a new message
* Notice your default message as BCC.
* Now select a second Identity.
* You will see that the change has replaced the BCC with Reply-To
------

You will also notice that the email will appear in the sent folder as stated on
this issue.

** PLEASE CONFIRM THIS ISSUE **

The problem is that the Send-To folder preference is identity-specific, and
prior to the fix at the duplicate, was not inherited from the default identity.
This has been fixed now, and should work correctly for a new identity created
with TB 0.7 or later.

I just tried this with 0.8, and it copied the message to my Sent folder.
Instead of sending a message to sent, it is supposed to BCC a specific email
address.

When I first go into the new message, I can see the BCC address. As soon as I
select the identity I want, the BCC address is removed. When I send as that
Identity, a copy is put in my Sent folder.
As confirmation, I removed my Identity and recreated it within 0.8.

In my Account Settings->Copies And Folders section, I have:

[ ] Place a Copy In:

[ X] BCC These Email Addresses: <my email address>
Scott Carr -- there is a difference between the BCC feature and the FCC feature
which is described in the original report. The failure to inherite the BCC
settings is bug 260805.
Reopening; bug 246744 added a fix to inherit the FCC-folder,
but not the FCC flag.

Found an earlier report about the FCC flag, duping.

Note that bug 262300 has been opened about providing a full UI to deal with the
identity-specific preferences.

Reopening again -- that bug is also about the fcc_folder, not the fcc flag.

Bug 262300 has been fixed. This means that each identity can be individually
edited for all the identity-specific settings -- that is, the Copies&Folders and
Composition&Addressing pages of the account settings, as well as the name,
address, organization, etc. fields. This fix is available now in nightly
builds.
