User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910 This page somehow displays a popup window even with very minimal Javascript settings and with popup blocking enabled (and no sites are excepted). The code is pretty horrible and there's a pile of frames and other things which make it annoying to narrow down. Reinstating the old Javascript setting to disallow "Open unrequested windows" would be nice since the popup blocker doesn't seem to be able to prevent that. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Turn on popup blocking. Disable all Javascript in everything but Mozilla and disable all actions except "change status bar text". 2. Open the example website. Hopefully it hasn't changed since I tried it. 3. You will see an annoying popup ad on this cybersquatted website (I meant to visit linuxgames.com). Actual Results: I saw an annoying popup ad on this cybersquatted website (I meant to visit linuxgames.com). Expected Results: I did not expect a popup since I have popups blocked. Actually I'm somewhat worried about what other things Javascript may be doing without my knowledge. Popup blocking is one of the big advantages of Mozilla so I'm a little disappointed. I may just turn Javascript off completely.
No popup in a current trunk build. Reporter, could you please test a trunk build? The popup blocker was heavily revamped recently, though those changes didn't make 1.7.3...
This is the original reporter. I can't test the popup blocker because that site is no longer displaying popups with either the new build or my original install. If you have another site with the same problem I can test it.
Well.. no one really analyzed what the problem here was, so we have no idea what the site was doing... Marking worksforme due to lack of ability to reproduce, but please reopen if this problem reappears.
