When the mail list is sorted by unread flag, the sorting is not updated when the
flag changes until a next jump to another folder.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. sort by unread flag
2. read an unread mail
Actual Results:  
the mail is still at the top of the list

Expected Results:  
as read, the mail should move after the unread mails
I, for one, would not want the program to behave the way you behave.
At any rate, the program is working according to design.  The change you request 
is an enhancement.

right, we don't want messages disappearing from view or jumping around because
you read them or marked them read/unread
