I suggested this in a MozillaZine forums thread, and the response was generally
that it was a good idea. My suggested text is either:
This message was sent with Thunderbird: http://www.getthunderbird.com/
...or...
This message was sent with Thunderbird

Note also that in the thread, it was suggested to start thinking about this only
near the Thunderbird 1.0 release, and the more I think about it, the more I tend
to agree (based on my Thunderbird IMAP/SSL experience).

I'd say this is no enhancement. Maybe it was in 2004, but not now. Everybody knows Thunderbird, and such a banner is just plain spam.

Yes, I don't think we want to do this. Users can create their own snippets if they want.

Thanks. One down, a zillion to go :-)
It is an old subject but many email client do it today when you send a mail from your phone or with the windows 10 email client for example :"Provenance : Courrier pour Windows 10" means send by with this link on the word courrier https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=550986
I think that the choice to activate a phrase like that from configuration of a new account could be helpful to spread the word about Thunderbird.
Is it possible to reconsider the position about this enhancement?
