in ver 0.9 wheh new tab is opened cursor WAS in location bar
so one could just type url. (Ctrl-T and type url)
in 1.0 you have to click in location bar to be able to type url
(Ctrl_T, mouse ->click in location bar, type url)
Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch

This works fine for me. Do you have any extensions installed? If yes, disabled
them and see if it helps
