in ver 0.9 wheh new tab is opened cursor WAS in location bar so one could just type url. (Ctrl-T and type url) in 1.0 you have to click in location bar to be able to type url (Ctrl_T, mouse ->click in location bar, type url)

This works fine for me. Do you have any extensions installed? If yes, disabled them and see if it helps
