Description

The Preferences window sometimes pops up partially (one time almost completely)
off-screen. I had to pull it back to the center of the screen to use it. This
may be related to the fact that the main mozilla window itself is fairly small
and pops up all over my screen; maybe the preferences window is using some kind
of offset from the upper-left corner of that window? When I maximize the
mozilla window first, the Preferences window seems to come up in sensible
places.

Yep, this was happening in the Friday, Jan. 28, build. Drives me nuts.
Nominating this as a "beta1" stopper.

Matt, ask McAfee if you need help with this one.

Might be ben's, or related to the dialog problems
we had over the weekend. Adding ben to CC list.

On linux, when i do anything with profile manager that requires a new window,
the new window is drawn into video memory, but is invisible. I can select it
from the list of windows my window manager provides for me (windowmaker), and it
has focus the whole time. When it becomes visible, i see that it is mostly off
the screen. I suspect this is related.
prefwindow probably needs a call to the centering function in dialogOverlay.js.
Unfortunately this function doesn't work at present because of weird bugs in
window metrics in JS, so hooking this up may not do any good...

Why is this "PDT-"? I'm not sure you understand ... this basically make the
prefs unusable on Linux. Clearing whiteboard status for re-evaluation. Can you
give me more of a reason at least?

marked [PDT+] because it doesn't work on Linux. If there is a workaround please
remove [PDT+]

This only happens when browser is partly off screen.
And on some version of unix it does not happen.
If some wants to take this bug please do or give me a patch.
Otherwise want to downgrade to PTD-

centerWindowOnScreen() isn't centering properly, good idea though.
