Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040803
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040803

The installer seems to install files to C:\program files\common
files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.7.2_2004080302\ where they should of gone to
C:\program files\mozilla.org\Mozilla17

(I named my folder Mozilla17 to keep mozilla.exe in)

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install mozilla 1 to D:\program files\mozilla.org\Mozilla
2.Install mozilla 1.4 to D:\program files\mozilla.org\Mozilla14
3.Install mozilla 1.7 and ActiveXcontrol to D:\program files\mozilla.org\Mozilla17

Actual Results:
Right clicking in address bar shows dialog but copy, edit, paste are disabled.
Right clicking on web rendering shows dialog but copy, edit, paste are disabled.

Expected Results:
Should have enabled choices.

Fixed by moving the folders and files from

C:\program files\common files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.7.2_2004080302\

to

D:\program files\mozilla.org\mozilla17\

(or your main mozilla.exe folder)
Mozilla installs GRE to %CommonProgramFiles% because it is shared between
Mozilla Suite, Firefox and Thunderbird. The rest of Mozilla is installed to the
directory you specify.

Thanks for posting back. I thought I would post up this issue as I have seen
other users posting it as a 'application' problem.

The target of "%CommonProgramFiles%\mozilla.org\GRE\1.7.2_2004080302\" prevented
cut, copy, and paste - another side affect was no profile manager to store and
then retrive passwords.

I did not know that the Install moved files from Mozilla 1.4 over to Mozilla
1.7.2 or even attempted to share. My Mozilla1.4 does not seem to need the 1.7 GRE.

However - After manualy moving from files and folders from
"%CommonProgramFiles%\mozilla.org\GRE\1.7.2_2004080302\*" to "D:\program
files\mozilla.org\Mozilla17\*" the bugs described for m1.7 were resolved.

I have seen other users posting simmilar bugs but the reports seemed more
towards the actual application rather then the installer (I think its an
installer issue).

The m1.7 bugs I experianced of having an UnEnabled copy, cut, paste seemed
resolved. Also my passwords for forms were restored to a working order (storing
passwords and autoentering passwords on forms, etc).

I noticed that Mozilla1.7 was searching %CommonProgramFiles% looking for the GRE
files (I renamed folder in commonfiles, started mozilla, and attempted to move
folder but file was in use - strange as the folder name was different but m1.7
still managed to find something!).

I then promptly moved my GRE into my mail mozilla folder (just to keep mozilla
searching its own tree and noticed that my cut, copy, paste bugs had been resolved).

I also have Mozilla 1.4 installed and running (it works 110%)
Mozilla 1.4 does not seem to have the same GRE file location as Mozilla 1.7 does.

I do not have firefox or thunderbird installed. Other browsers are
IExplorer3.0, StarOffice5.2, Netscape4.5, IExplorer5.5, Netscape7.0, Mozilla1.4,
Mozilla1.7

Anyway - I hope this helps
:)

?!? - affect of previous solution is Path=[PROGRAMFILESDIR]\mozilla.org

I know its the wrong path but my path did fix my password and cut/paste dialogs! :-)
Hi again, next time I am moving this to confirmed.

The problem exists for cross HDD installs (w95), and I would suspect same HDD
installs (w95) with current setup config and results.

Mozilla 1.7.3:-
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.7.3_2004091008

Manualy pached again to reagin passwords, cut/copy/paste, etc...

D:\Program Files\mozilla.org\14\

.\14\ is the mozilla.exe sub folder.

No affect on FireFox before or after Install of 1.7.3 - it had cut/copy/paste,
passwords, etc... Same after patch to 1.7.3 GDE

Another solution?

Please add a comment line of

better yet change line to
Path=[PROGRAMFILESDIR]\mozilla.org\mozilla1.7.3\

?!?

thanks again for mozilla :-)
