darn, that one fired too quickly: * Downloaded & installed Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 * Started "firefox.exe -P" * Specified a new profile folder: E:\MY USER NAME\Application Data\mozilla\firefox. Folder is created and all works swell. But... the new profile doesn't exist in a hard-to-guess folder like in the format 8RANDOMCHARS.slt. Moz suite uses this and i think Firefox also uses this when no custom folder is specified.
Summary: Profile manager doesn't use random sub folder. → Profile manager doesn't use random sub (*.slt) folder when custom folder is specified.
This is by design, so that system administrators can specify a custom folder location.

If you want to create a profile in the default location, just use "firefox -createprofile name" This was designed so that it could be created in a non-default location, for example "firefox -createprofile D:\Shared\firefox-profile
