I can confirm this as a bug in the official 1.0 release of FireFox. I have web
applications code that I write and Firefox is the only browser where the default
value is not displayed if it is not the first value in the list. on IE (5+), and
Netscape 7 this works perfectly.

If people are to market FireFox as a browser people need to use, this is a
small, but very important, feature that needs to function properly. Otherwise I
cnnot in good conscience recommend it to casual users for my sites, when pages
and forms will not display properly.

I see this bug was input back in September, is there no effort to fix it??

bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
