User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 I believe this problem is not related to the Tools > Options > Privacy > History setting of "Remember visited pages for the last XX days". True, the clear button next to History will delete the visited pages and typed URLs in the location bar but the typed URLs in my location bar are being deleted on their own, (self-deleted) within 1-3 days after I type them. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. N/A 2. 3. Actual Results: I can't really reproduce this problem, I just notice that typed URLs are missing when I click the location bar drop box and sometimes as many as 3 URLs will be missing but usually just 1 at a time will be gone. Expected Results: I beleive that typed URLs should remain in the location bar unless you manually clear History in the Tools > Options > Privacy > History settings and hit the clear button. This same problem occurred when I used Firebird 0.7. I never used 0.8 - 0.9 so I don't know if this would occur in those versions. Perhaps is there a tweak I could make in the (about:config) Preference page? Thanks, Joe
Update 09-25-04 10:30 PDT: I think this problem may be related to the downloads in the toolbar. I had inserted the downloads in the toolbar and the typed URLs were self-deleting within 24 hrs, 3 URLs at a time. Since I have removed the downloads from the toolbar only 1 URL has deleted in 48 hrs. This is way the URLs were self-deleting when I used Firebird 0.7 (without the downloads in the toolbar), 1 URL would self-delete every 2-3 days. It still is a problem though as no URL should be self-deleting.

Update 10-02-04 19:48 PDT: In my last update I reported I thought perhaps by removing the downloads in the toolbar it was slowing down the deleting of the URLs. That was the case for a couple of days where only 1 typed URL would self-delete every 24-48 hrs. Now the problem has returned where 3 typed URLs are self-deleting every 24 hrs. Am I the only person who is experiencing this BUG/PROBLEM??? I would love to get some kind of feedback from anyone please. Thanks ...
I think i was experiencing something familiar, I deleted the formhistory.dat file in my profile folder and have not had this problem again. Though I am not 100% sure. Try deleting that file manually or a new profile.

Try deleting that file manually or a new profile. Jose: Thanks for your response. I have deleted the formhistory.dat file. Actually there were 2 of them, one for Mozilla Firefox and one for Phoenix. I'll post back any results I have from the deletions of those files in a few days. Thanks, Joe

Perhaps by deleting the formhistory.dat for Phoenix, which was created back on 12-23-03 when I used Firebird 0.7, may still prove a solution for my issue of self-deleting URLs. I'll post back in a few days and update my issue. Joe
Update 10-05-04 21:05 PDT Unfortunately the formhistory.dat file has no connection to my issue of typed URLs self-deleting from the location bar. The URLs are still self-deleting at a rate of 2-3 URLs every 24 hrs. Any further suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks, Joe
The issue of typed URLs self deleting still exists with the latest release of Firefox 1.0. It appears that all but one URL will self delete. I can have for example 6 typed URLs in the location bar and within 24 hrs all but 1 of these URLs will self delete leaving me with the task of typing the URLs again only to have them self delete the next day. Does anyone else share this issue as I find it hard to believe that I'm the only victim. Any further comments will be appreciated. Thanks
Is this still valid? Did you try a new profile?
(In reply to comment #8) > Is this still valid? Did you try a new profile? Thanks Jose for your reply: Yes, this issue is still valid with all versions of Firefox including the latest 1.0.3. Unless I use the URL everyday, it will self delete.Whenever I install a new version of Firefox, I do a clean install, I first remove Firefox from Add/Remove Programs, then I delete the folders of the older version in C:\Windows\Application Date\Mozilla and C:\Programs Files\Mozilla Firefox. So the new clean install produces a new profile but the issue always remains. I'm not quite sure how I could try a new profile or perhaps do a tweak to the profile.
You can always start firefox like this: firefox -p to create a new profile
Is this still an issue?
(In reply to comment #11) > Is this still an issue? Jose: Yes, this still is an ongoing issue. It appears if I don't use a URL that is in the location bar regularly it will self-delete. Example, URLs that I use everyday remain, the ones I don't use everyday self-delete. So I can update my original post where I said URL will self-delete every 1-3 days to: "Unless the URLs are used everyday they will self-delete". Has anyone else experience this issue you are aware of? It may just be an issue with Windows ME. Thanks for your reply. Joe
Via email the reporter said he had the history set to 1 day, therefore the url bar issue
