Using today's comm opt buils on Linux and Win98 Open Mail. Select IMAP inbox. password dialog comes up, but it looks wrong: It is entitled AutoFill Password, but I have never enabled autofill. There is a checked box "Save this", although I explicitly set the IMAP account to not save passwords. This may not sound like much, but I was loath to enter my password into this dialog, since I did NOT want autofill, and had no idea why it would be asking me for a password when trying to access my IMAP mailbox.
This is the normal password dialog that you've always had (independent of autofill). All the dialogs had a skin-change over the week-end, and this one unfortunately got a title change as well. That shouldn't have happened. Ben, can you restore the wording to something neutral indicating it has nothing to do with autofill. The checkbox is new; if you chose to have autofill save this password you would check it off. The default (i.e., initial) value of the box is always checked but perhaps that is not a good idea. I could make the initial value be unchecked or, better yet, always initialize with the last value used. Forget about what you explicitly set in your IMAP account profile. That is going away and being replaced by this autofill feature. Reassigning to ben to restore the original title for this dialog (or come up with a neutral one that doesn't mention autofill).

Regarding the initial state of the checkbox, Phil just opened bug 26094 on it. So I'll be addressing it there. Make any comments you have about the checkbox in that report.
morse has removed my changes so whatever exists here is as it was before. sairuh, can you assign to an appropriate person in mailnews? my hands are rather full at the moment.
done. handing over to Networking-Mail group.

I'm not sure what you want little ol' me to do...mailnews is supposed to use single signon for our imap login. There are lots of problems working that out that are being tracked in bug #26094 among others to get this working right before beta. Peter, if there are particular password problems with our single signon integration stuff let me know and I'll make sure Phil has a bug to track it. I know he has a couple already. Jefft and Seth are leading the charge to get this going.

I think at this point it was just a matter of making sure that the IMAP login dialog was not titled 'Single Sign on'. Other bugs are tracking remaining issue.
