I read news.redhat.com to get NNTP access to their mailing lists and this
morning I've been able to crash Thunderbird probably six times in a row JUST by
reading newsgroups. I'm a very casual reader. I go through the newsgroup reading
articles with the keybord. I use N to go to the next message, and R to mark a
thread read. After approximately 20 messages or so TB crashes. The group in
question is gated.rhl-beta-list, but I don't think that's the group is the problem.
The following are talkback IDs related to the crashes this morning: TB951579H,
TB951148W, TB951126H, TB951106M.
I can reproduce this crash pretty easily. I'm happy to offer any more
information that would be helpful.

It should be noted that these crashes are experienced running Thunderbird
version 0.8 (20040913) on Linux.

using tbird 0.8, I'm (so far) unable to get a crash while reading news articles.
tested on fedora core 2, using the news.mozilla.org server, going thru
n.p.m.test, using N and R shortcuts.
the talkback server is still backlogged.

After some further research this appears to be a problem with a broken
extension. It appears an extension was causing the crash after it didn't get
updated between verion 0.7.x and 0.8.x

I believe enigmail was the one causing the crash. I'm not 100% sure, all I know
is that after I upgrade it the problems seems to have gone away.
