Details

The problem is that I have changed the program files folder from C:\program
files to D:\

this means that instead of guessing

C:\program files\netscape etc.

it guesses

D:\\netscape etc.

this is on win98, build ID 2000020108
This is the correct behavior.

Our suggested installation path is depending on the result of your Windows
registry value.

We query Windows registry key
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Current
Version\\ProgramFilesPath) to find where your default "program files" folder is.
This value was set by the OS during Windows installation.

If for some reason, this value in Windows registry is not set, we query for your
default OS drive, and then append "program files" to it.

You can always change the installation directory manually when installing 5.0.
Installer should remember your custom path for your next installation, so you
won't need to change it again.
