Make the status area display just as in the Browser: Menu help when in the menu Show URL when mouse over a link. Other???

Charley--I have changed my mind. I think we should leave this bug as the feature request. I'll set it to M20. I think you have the status area removal in another bug. If not, let me know and I can file it or go ahead and file an M15 bug yourself.

I think the url of when mouse over a link is the most important part to implement. That has to be done for browser, so that won't be hard to copy. Also, it is used for loading progress as in the browser. After discussion with Simon, we agree we should keep this.
Charley, this one can really wait until the next release. We need to determine what data we can present (I can see having a pref wehre I can have the full path of where my caret is as an example -- such as body>table>tbody>tr>td>ol>li); and when specific data should be presented (should target strings be displayed?) before this gets implemented. This would be a cool feature for the next round.

What you describe is a cool new use of the status area that we obviously shouldn't do now. Simon and I are only arguing that we should support the same things on the status that the browser has. That will be negligible work for us.

Simon has the bug for status bar cleanup. I added a request there to display URL of links like the browser. Keep this futured to cover adding Composer-specific functionality, like the suggested tag hierarchy.
