Due to another bug, I needed to create a new profile, and could not import my
full list of bookmarks.

instead, I had to open the old file in the browser window and then drag and drop
each link into Bookmarks Manager. After a couple of dozen links, Firefox crashed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.create new profile
2.open old bookmarks.html in main browser window
3.open BM
4.drag each link from main window to BM

Actual Results:
all OK for a while, then crash

Expected Results:
not crash! :-P

Are you still using TBE Dan ?
This may well be the cause of all your crashes.
Disable / uninstall TBE it and see if it still can reproduce

see also Dan's crashes in bug 247851 (including TB's) and bug 262451 (including
TB's)
Peter: I no longer use any extensions at all. I did use TBE, then briefly tried
TBP. Then I thought (wrongly, as it now appears) that using extensions might be
the cause of 247851, so I stopped using them.
Perhaps related to Bug 261661?

The talkback report is no longer in database, so if you still can reproduce this
bug (preferably using a trunk build), please post the new id here.

I'm now running FF 1.0.1. I attempted to reproduce the bug by creating a new
profile then adding links into the bookmarks manager, from my current bookmarks
file (ie, from a copy of it extracted from my default profile). This file is
shorter than the one I would've been using when I first reporting this bug, and
I manually removed all of the favicons from it some time ago.

I also created folders and some separators to re-create the structure of the
source document, more or less.

And I'm glad to report that I was not able to reproduce the bug. :-)
